The Zunick House is the only sober house in Boston that is not named after the street it inhabits. Dedicated to Josh Zunick, who died on September 18th, 2014, at age 24 from a heroin overdose, it’s different from other sober houses. In the heartbreaking months following Josh's death, a beautiful truth began to emerge about the type of person he was. Many people began to come foreword stating that even when he was struggling with his addiction, Josh would selflessly help others overcome their own. The Zunick House finds its inspiration within this type of compassion in such a way that Josh Zunick almost seems to still be present within its walls.
The Massachusetts Organization for Addiction Recovery (MOAR) was founded in 1991 to bring together addiction-focused groups and build a coalition advocating for the licensing of Alcohol and Drug Counselors and other key issues. MOAR is alive today because of the unwavering dedication of people in recovery, along with their families, friends, and allies.
